Low Carb Sour Cream and Chive Bread

This delicious low carb, sour cream and chive bread recipe will be one you want to bookmark!

While it’s delicious on its own as a snack or a side,  it also can be used to make an epic low carb grilled cheese sandwich!

For me, grilled cheese a comfort food. It takes me back to a time when life was simpler and MUCH LESS stressful. There have been many times since I’ve been low carb, I have found myself craving a good grilled cheese sandwich.

While I’ve made them with various low carb bread recipes I found on the internet, I still wasn’t very happy with how they turned out.

After making this bread, I had the brilliant idea to use it for a grilled cheese sandwich. I sliced it about 1/2 inch thick, smothered one side of each slice with butter, then smothered the other side with cheese.

I slapped the other piece of buttered bread on top, and gently placed it in a heated cast iron skillet.

After browning one side, I gently flipped it and browned the other side.

Once I had a nice crust on each slice of bread and the cheese was melted, it was time to taste test it.

One bite was all I needed. It passed with flying colors.

Since then I have made myself multiple grilled cheese sandwiches, and not one of them has been a disappointment. 🙂

Next, mix the almond flour, protein powder, baking powder, and salt in a medium-sized mixing bowl until evenly combined.

Add the eggs, sour cream, melted butter, and almond milk to the mix and whisk together until you have a smooth batter.

Once mixed, add the chives and garlic to the batter, then mix again until evenly incorporated.

Pour the batter into the prepared pan, then use a spatula to spread the batter out evenly.

Bake for 40-50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.

Let it cool for a few minutes before flipping the bread out on a plate or serving platter. Let it cool to room temperature before slicing and serving.

Enjoy!

Storage Tip:

Because of the high dairy content in this bread, make sure you store any leftover bread in the fridge!
